The Ins and Outs of Siting Services

Once your caravan has been delivered, you may be siting it yourself, however for those without the knowledge and experience to do so we offer siting services both standalone and as a package with our transport service.

The siting process can vary significantly depending on the size of the unit, whether its a caravan or a lodge, the surface its being sited on and the time of year. The main things which take place are the shunting of the caravan onto the base using a four wheel drive vehicle, followed by the jacking and leveling of the caravan while positioning it on blocks and axle stands at several contact points on the chassis. The process can be completed in as little as an hour for smaller caravans with good access onto hard standing bases, but the process can be significantly longer with larger units, especially lodges, and when access is difficult and/or the unit is being sited on a surface which is not hardstanding such as tarmac. The weather also plays an important role in the siting of caravans when an access way or the base is not hard standing.

When you request a siting team, before confirming your booking we'll complete a virtual site survey using Google Maps Satelite view and Street view. If we deem it necessary after completing this we'll perform a physical site survey to ensure there are no problems on the day. The siting team may make recommendations to you such as trimming back hedges and trees, or removing gate posts where required.
